@Pampaza it's between 20-30% ethnically Russia. Since they are all Ukranians, and it's Ukranian territory, Russia was the one invading them. .more specifically, Russian backed parties turned into Russian backed militias that overthrew the civilian and democratic government. And installed a junta.

@annebomba Let me point out the obvious. If Russia didn't want it's eastern neighbors joining NATO, all it had to was make sure they didn't see Russia as a threat. But it couldn't do that. Because Russia is bad at geopolitics. Don't blame others for that. It didn't have the economic leverage to persuade or threaten either. And it was a continual threat. NATO wanted to have a working relationship with Russia. But Russia made that impossible. Because Russia is bad at this. NATO didn't have to be a threat to Russia. Russia is good at propaganda. But it's tactics really are bribes and threats. The bribes wouldn't be bad if it was giving a country money. But it bribes politicians under the table, which is just corrupting a country, and destabilizing it. That's not neighborly. So see it from the perspective of Georgia or Ukraine, this threat is threatening them, destabilizing them, corrupting them, and complaining that it can't dictate their country. Russia's big complaint is that it can't dictate to the "west" and it can't dictate to eastern countries. And that's justification for this. Not anyone actually doing anything to Russia. And let me point out something obvious. The "west" let Russia get away with a lot trying to bend itself over for a relationship. Russia's "issues" are ego trips.

@annebomba No one is gas lighting Russia. You're talking about unquantifiables. Other than geopolitical, which means Russia dictates to countries. For one, economic power translates to strength in all aspects, so they'd have more geopolitical influence. China's power has been almost entirely economical, and they knew that. No one tries or affected Russia's spirituality. And the creativity thing is perhaps the most delusional. What does it even mean? In what way? Just random crap for you to feel better. Russia is just bad at geopolitics. And it lacked the strength for it anyway except through force.

@annebomba I gotta come back to this because you don't make sense. how can any country be an accountant or a poet? It's just a place to live, where people do stuff. What has Russia done differently economically whether western countries are there? But the craziest thing is thinking that any country cares if Russia is poetic or not. No one was dictating something like that. Is every shop owner a poet? The fact you think Russia is more creative than the every country west of Russia is nuts. And it's crazy that you're trying to turn good relations into a negative. How can Russia have any good relations with any country if it's such a spiritual hindrance. I mean china is officially atheist. You gotta understand how it doesn't make sense. Art tends to thrive in surplus periods. These countries helped Russia do what it already would do. Like there's no logic or reason to what you're saying. Only exception is that the west is less religious... Maybe. Though the Russians killed God last century.... The communist state was also atheist. And east Asians are also less religious ( more so than the west). And Russia's great enemy is probably the most religious developed western country... So that obviously doesn't matter to Russia.

@annebomba no it is not western thinking. It's just factual. More money equals better leverage and more military spending. It is a fact. Not a way of thinking. Nor am I some capitalist who thinks money is the best. It is just a fact. If Russia wanted more geopolitical power, then money was a non aggressive way of doing it, and it was helping it. You said Russia wanted more geopolitical power and I pointed out that economic power is tied to that. I didn't say it's some goal. I stated a fact. China is powerful right now because of it's economics. Whatever else leads to your fake idea of strength has nothing to do with a state's power. This wasn't some cultural thing. But a cold hard fact of a state's abilities.

@annebomba Countries west of Russia did nothing or specify anything. Russia sells what it wants. Those countries were just buyers. And invested in Russia as a market. Russia is still doing that without the west. It just has fewer buyers and less options. And worst rules. This isn't about dictating. You're switching what you were talking about mid way. That's going back to Russia's politics. Which you ignore is bad for the countries around Russia. You're asking for them not to have opportunities.

I don't think Russia would pay any. They'd just ignore it. Not sure what hope there is in Russia. Just a dictator coming into power that for some reason wants democracy.
