I never know what people mean either. But I believe all countries have a national identity. And maybe whatever is typical. But as long as one sees themselves and lives their life in Canada, I'd view that as integrated. When you can live in a country like a regular person. you're integrated. So I don't know what those people expect. When is enough enough for some people. Integration is not that complex. If someone thinks you drop everything of where you come from to integrate, that's never been how integration has ever worked.

@Momsmad13 and you belittle his experience in turn? That's not helpful either. In terms of acceptance about something, or oppression, people can find common ground even if the experience is not the same. If the issue is a fight for acceptance, even if the reason is different, than it can be a bridge or anecdote to understanding someone else's pain.

@Momsmad13 in fact that's what the original comment is about. Finding common ground in a situation with different reasons. Muslims based descrimination(though some Arabic racism could play a role), and a black man facing racial non-acceptance. The reasons are technically different but similar and the same outcome.

@vincentwatkins1892 one could say that he didn't have the courage to accept a changing world with new people in it that are slightly different to him.
