What muddles the two options is two things. Republicans have an ego that hates to admit being wrong. And that they're all like together with the same story. The story is to downplay it. They want to down play it and not look weak by admitting mistakes. Which is muddling the whole thing. Like fox has no reason to defend these people, and they didn't, and then they did.
