@xyzsame4081 It's definitely a matter of training. Empathy is also taught. We teach it to children. At the very least they can learn a method of thinking, and more time to understand what is expected of them. It can also weed out the ones that don't have the patience for it, and showcase the ones that don't have it.

elite13 What we should do is an immediate freeze on cops unless they have a 2 year degree in a relevant field like criminalogy, psych, ethics ect. Then make the police academy give out an equivalent 2 year. Take away the military preference(maybe it's good as background experience but it gives extra points in scores, and that should be out). But disbanding and reforming has worked in two cities. And not cutting funds to social services is important too. The reason why police have such high funding, relatively, is because everything else has been cut.

Jesus. The mentality police have makes no sense in some ways. I don't understand what kind of values someone has to not value life, and do as much as possible to be nonlethal
