Possibly. It will hit America first as soon as their products land on American soil. A chain reaction might happen but its not a given. For instance. If a manufacturer of an Audiophile Amplifier with a price of $5000. each gets hit with a 25% tariff, that will be an increase of $1250.00 on that amplifier. The profit margin might have already been $4000.00. They might take the 12 hundred dollar hit and just make less. Likely not, but it depends on the product and country where the stuff is manufactured. It takes time to see what the importers finally do.

Canadafor51stState Tough call but lets do some quick math. Tariffs increase prices for goods so consumer pays more. Tariffs are supposed to replace income tax, so consumers keep more of their pay. If they pay more without income tax at best - at very best consumer income balances out. But as we are seeing the price of eggs, sometimes the increase is more than what the tariff would add. A tariff is an income tax anyway, so Trumps logic fails.

@TheTardisDreamer Yeah. I seriously agree. I wonder how long it will take for folks to realize that their leader has been selling (npi) a false narrative about how China, for example, pays tariffs? I really wonder who will take the blame - be thrown under the bus, instead of him coming to terms with his ongoing misunderstanding about financial issues.

Canadafor51stState Tariffs are income taxes? Trumps flip. He wants to take America back to when the government was supported with tarrifs. Like back during the great depression. Actually, its said that the tariffs then worsened the great depression but Trump seems to think he can replace income tax by going back to when tariffs paid americas bills. As far as the trade, my logic is that if Ford makes cars in Canada which they do, and America taxes America cars but because they are built in Canada they get hit with a tariff, there isnt any logic, its just increasing the cost to consumers. You understand basic conversations better than how things actually support America. Quick google search says that American auto companies sold 16 million - MILLION cars last year alone. Thats a lot of folks buying new and why its an important addition to americas income. Lastly Trumps logic is failed. Totally failed, we cannot dispute this. It's on the record. How many times has Trump said that China pays tariffs? Since America pays tariffs not only is his logic failed, the point of reference cant even be placed in a conversation about if its logical or not. His understanding is so flawed, someone has to first bring him up to date about what a tariff actually is so then - and only then can we start debating if he has an understand as to how taxing Americans can make for a better and cheaper America.

@WhiteWolfos Tough call but responsible tariffing has been a part of government policies for about a century. Using it in more modern times as a threat to achieve things overnight that would - if at all possible - take decades to rebuild the infrastructures and manufacturing capacity that was intentionally exported overseas to make things more affordable so more Americans could buy them, isnt a informed mission. Its about as informed as telling all of the world here on earth, that China pays tariffs. They dont and wont. America, Americans, pays tariffs and Trump has told the entire earth that he doesn't even know how something works but some expect that error to turn into something that will save American self created deficit. If something works in opposition to how it actually does, what are the chances that it will achieve the spoken results?

The strange thing is that the Chinese Boot manufacturer doesn't clearly understand what an American tariff is. He said that his costs will go up. Thats wrong - at least not until he has to raise prices because of possible lower sales in America. Trumps tariffs affect AMERICANS only. His business works exactly as before except that American resellers might buy less. The price of his stuff isnt affected at all, unless hearing that America is tariff'ng their products does something unpredictable.
