  1. The word privilege must be recognized in its context. Its not a bad word, its just that sometimes we are describing character defects without proper repercussions. Folks that built themselves up from immigrants to become scholars and provide their daughter with an upper to uppermiddleclass life know where they came from. Not the same as when the word is generally used. Her privilege was earned. Hope her family's experience is a reminder.

  2. I was not in Candice's camp but understand that democracies try to find balance in society to solve issues from different points of views. So I understood her positioning herself with the more conservative camp. I am however amazed of the number of people that think being black enough is a legitimate issue. Well, legitimate in the African American diaspora. Its not! Just like no-one tries to prove if a whyte person is a legitimate American citizen - THINK ABOUT THAT - once she is shown to be a legitimate American citizen there is no more debate except the fundamental issues as to is she qualified to get a persons vote. Its a made up concern by (imho) supremacist that are trying to force African Americans back to the plantation where only the massa has a say on anything. If African Americans can be made to think a mixed race person is ineligible because she isn't black enough, they will vote for the person that isn't African American at all. But whyte enough . So the government stays mainly whyte. Gotta read between the lines(lies).

Definitions of race Loaded subject but an important pov is that during slavery, Americas ruling class determined that in order to "keep whites pure" - it sounds like it is supposed to, the one drop rule was established. If a person had one drop of African blood, they were considered to be part of the black "race". As said, race is a social construct to divide the construct. New news for me is that the term " white" has a specific moment in history that began its construct of division. We are the human race called homo sapiens or wise man, but that title gets a lot of questionable activities related to the wise position.
