Agree with the many comments stating that the justice system went off the rails. Disagree with the idea that it was premeditated. Trespass is a real crime. Once they made a decision to trespass they knew that there was a chance the owner or someone we like be there and hope that it would not go as it did. A chance on a quick fix, but trouble could be there. I can't listen to the folks making excuses for the chance they took as if the homeowner made them trespass. Yes, kids do stupid things but protecting your property is the property owners right. Had he only fired to incapacitate I would have felt better, but we see stories many times where professional crime fighters empty all of there guns on someone holding a cell phone in their hands. What is a homeowner to think when he is confronted with s real personal property tresspass. Should he fire to eliminate the threat of just to stop the intruder? Possibly there could be a way, other than life in prison when a john doe finds himself protecting himself with lethal force brought to his situation not of his invite. The fact that it was a trespass should eliminate the possibility of life. The trespassers were a threat to the community and why life is sentenced. Life is given to remove potential threats to the community at large. The homeowner wasn't a threat to the community, just to trespassers trying to take from him.
