@democracybacksliding I understand the phrase. I think its accurate. Consider triage. Where a doctor feels empathy for a patient during war times but because he seriously wont make it, gives his time to another wounded but has a fighting chance to make it. The doctor has remorse over his decision. When triage is because of profits, a violence that isnt seen on the war front is being used to parse out who gets insurance and those that wont. Its a passively violent act to make a decision to likely sentence someone that hasn't done a crime to the no insurance capitol punishment chair. Death under these circumstances isnt a triage. Its a choice to not pay for someones situation that they paid into. That's violent.

Understand why you were surprised. Think about it this way, the callousness is what he did when he denied legitimate claims. The peoples ability to act just like was introduced on them is what you saw. An equal distancing from the actuality of the act.
