  2. ...another point needs to be made that the cores memory interface of the 4080's are different. The 3000 series cards had different memory specs but the memory width stayed the same. With each 4080 series card the interface width changes. The 4080 16gig is is 256 bits wide. The 4080 12 gig is 192 bits wide. Along with the less memory and cores, its a siginificant reduction in performance, dont you think? Almost an entirely different card, a 4070Ti maybe?

  6. Title brought me to expect a short throw projector. U know, the ones the have a lens near the top of the base for that allows you to place it two ft away. Made so you can't get between the projector and the screen. This is a good review but its not a short throw projector. Would be interesting if you find a true short throw with the dame specs and see if it can hang. Always liking your two cents either way.

  7. The pedal setup forces u to have a real sim seat so you can be low enough to be in teh correct orientation with them. Even though the price is to high for how much time I spend in sim racing, dont you think that an angle adjustment would make it a better solution for those of us that "sim" in an upright seating position? Nice either way, possible consideration later.

  9. Got ur rant. Really got ur rant but u forgot a thing. Retail vs wholesale. Might be hard to sell a 3090ti to what's its worth vs it's value compared to a 4070 ti if the previous card had a high wholesale price. No seller would be ok taking a substantial hit on all of his stock. Msrp takes into consideration sellers profit. R u in a position to find out what wholesale prices are on these cards? Even if you can't publish/relay the info, it could change your rant.

  10. Another way to create protomolecule would be clear epoxy resin poured over chunky glass fit to a mold of your design incorporating leds for the desired effect. Like a mold made of clear acrylic to be covered with chunky glass to be covered with the clear epoxy to hold it all together. The acrylic pyramid would be of whatever design you wished to get the proto molecule look you wanted.

  11. ....as far as the burnin and image retention issue, dont forget about "AutoHideDesktopIcons" that i have used on non oled monitor for years. I just like the uncluttered look of just the wallpaper on my monitor before it saves energy and turns itself off. Remember the original use of screensavers? Just bring them back to preserve oleds clean life. Just a reminder that crts had the same potential problem thus screensavers were coded. Hmmmm. Have we seen this before? (npi) Looking forward to possibly gettng one.

  13. I also feel that this is the problem. It looks like DP isnt fully backwards compatible. I had the experience when I connected a newer Ultragear monitor to an older graphics card. Wouldnt display. Connected HDMI - ok. Then connected the Ultragear monitor to a 3060, it worked fine. Difference? DP 1.2 or so, vs 1.4 needed at the diaplay. I would think that Dp would be a restricted technology than not passing a signal at all. A basic video signal, even possibly stating that top resolutions aren't available because of the difference in versions. But to not have any picture even though the connectors line up? Someone didnt think enough ahead. Possibly why HDMI is gaining traction in the computer monitor world. At least you will get a picture if versions are different. Even a first generation HDMI cable will work. Just not at higher resolutions and other bells and whistles. Hey Jay! Check if there are different Dp versions at the card and monitor. Probably the problem.

  16. Judging by the comments, you should tweak it a bit, clean it up so its safely shippable then auction it off. 2080Ti and 9900K in a "Two cents case" should do well. You really get your money for "Two cents". Dont forget to sign it and add a few T-shirts.

  17. I had a problem with my Newegg account and had many, many issues trying it to be reinstated. Some type of internal problem that they refused to let me know exactly what the problem was. After all of the issues that I had in trying to get them to realize that the problem was on their side and not mine the issue surfaced mysteriously during a ordering pause I finally had to open another account under a different addy to buy from them. After getting the new account I decided to just not be bothered by them and started buying elsewhere. I missed out on all the drama I suppose and can thank my lucky stars, looking at all of the folks that had bad experiences. Im near Microcenter so im good.

  19. Since your friend wants to go "overthetop", you should put a RGB propeller display in the space over the powersupply basement. With a remote control he could send party messages to it and of course its not all just for fun since it "is" a fan. Not much but at least it will pay some of the bills :) and pretty sure u would be the first to do it.

  20. (Dont be mad, please) Many ooen box deals can be found at their online site also including the at times penny deals. Jay told about how over time the price gets reduced further. It sometimes stops at a penny and i have bought a few usb ports, a shield case, bluetooth speaker/powerpack and various other items fir that penny each. Im also between stores in the NYC area so you have to check at each to see whats happening.

  24. Gotta pay more to open up a Pcie slot for a capture card or other thing that you might want. So when will consumer level motherboards come with extra slots to adjust for all of the space that the newer cards are taking up? Still...... I like the sleekness of the "Suprim". It goes with the idea that in the electronics world, less is more. Isnt it a contradiction that Nvidia has gone to a smaller node just so they had to put it all in a bigger <effectively> chassis? Seems backwards. Smaller node needs larger space? Huh? So when TSMC perfects an even smaller node, the graphics cards will be 4 slot hugeified door stop.....and cost more than this generations full builds.

  26. Hey Jay! There is a debate in places as to the value of a RAMDISK. Not only a reason to put 64gig in a new build, you can also show the benefits and negative effects of one. Be the first to put some numbers on a known but rarely used technology. Cant wait to see if I want to do one.

  28. Do this when posting a new computer build: Place software benchmark graphics tests numbers between max and min numbers so its easy to relate them with old builds. If a new card (PC build) scores around 5000 in a 3Dmark relate it with the best you have created and the min for a good experience. Gives a way to see how good or bad its doing when a graph isnt posted.

  29. Say Jay, you should install the full 32gig kit and 'Ramdrive" the additional 16. Maybe you could come up with some way to install the Os in a way that it transfers to ramdrive everytime you boot up or just to see if there is a performance improvement in using one. At least its a way to justify using the full 32 gig.

  32. Would be interesting if you ran "Two separate" cables and not one with a Y connector. Just to make sure that the card didnt need more power available. Lets move that dresser, but take out the drawers so it will be lighter. {places drawers on top of dresser} Its lighter now see. Same thing as I see it. Also whats wrong with down clocking the card since many tests have shown that in certain circumstances down clocking improves stability and also increases fps.

  37. How about placing another radiator between the CPU and GPU. This way some of the previous silicons heat would be dissipated making the liquid temperature lower providing better cooling......in theory. At least a "first", as far as I have seen.

  38. Was really surprised that Intel was able to beat out a few standard graphics cards manuf in their first outing for a non igpu processor in quite a while. Shocked that at the same price tier, it did well. Keeping in mind your other review that pointed out that intel "Arc's" are cards for the 10 series and above crowd, how do you place getting one since they are cards for newer CPU arcitectures? Is there the same CPU limitations for AMD CPU's? I will get one but will expect that on my 9 series base I wont see the best numbers. Looking forward to someone figuring out a workaround for the specifics of 10 series Cpu's and above. If possible......or just start looking forward to a new Cpu base.
