  1. The only way to stop illegal immigration is to require immigrants to apply for asylum or residency in their home countries. Only people that have gone thru the process legally should be allowed to apply for citizenship. Everyone that crosses the border illegally should not be allowed to apply for citizenship and they should be sent back to their home countries to apply. Anyone crossing the border illegally should be banned from applying for citizenship in the future.
