As far as the grid is concerned it is getting cleaner every year as more coal fired power plants shut down and are replaced with clean wind and solar energy. EVs are just better technology. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs and less maintenance costs.

  16. Can you imagine if Tesla teamed up with a new home developer that made the solar roof, battery storage, heat pump HVAC and electric vehicle charger as a standard part of the build. They would have people lining up to buy those homes and become part of a Tesla designed community. Incorporating bike paths and trails, some apartments and condos with solar canopies in the parking lot for EV charging and a business district that you could ride a bicycle to pick up groceries or do light shopping. Some developer should jump on this and team up with a winner.

  44.  @JBoy340a  Yes, it has a 25 year warranty but glass does not wear out. IT will last 2 or 3 times that long. The solar cells may degrade over time and not produce as mush energy as they did when new but they will still produce at a lower level of output. That is where the 25 year warranty comes in. Oversize your output a little from the start and you have a life time roof.

  49.  @RicksPoker  It is true. But grids change slowly. As coal plants shut down they are being replaced with wind and solar. Every year the percent of wind and solar goes up while coal goes down. That is why coal companies are filing for bankruptcy.

  50. Building codes in cities and states need to be upgraded to include current energy efficiency building standards. Too many contractors are just building poor quality buildings that cost a fortune to heat or cool.
