As somone whos lived in diffrent parts of ohio my whole life even if its only 17 years. Ive seen slow patching up of wholes at the cost of increased jade, cynicism, and corruption at least in Central Ohio. We know of our old problems but are willing to sacrifice far to much to solve them, for exsample a city council near where I lived johnstown oh had a corruption scandal of bribery and "a few housing relocations" to bring a intel plant there which caused alot of local chaos simply to stop the new albany brain drain. The same thing happened in dublin Marysville. And Columbus Heroin deaths still are the bud of jokes.

Ironically enough yellow fever seems to get more attention than hookworms.

@occupationallystrong1606 you clearly went outside the suburban bubble. New albany is full of biden-harris signs to this day alongside quite a few other diehard blue stuff which I assume you see as inherently better than the rural areas which starts about a 30 minute drive out from where I live. Also somehow ohio isnt the most gerrymandered state in the midwest that title goes to illinois now because ohio got all the attention and thus needed to calm it down so the maps would stick.

Seeing whats gone on in central ohio has given me slight hope for the flounderys near future not due to its leadership its still terrible here with corruption scandals simply to get a intel plant right by one of the best regional school districts. No rather the fact there is growth although its mostly delaware county rich people moving buisness into franklin and licking counties it shows people still have at least some of the work spirit that let the rust belt go as far as it did even if it ends up going to out of state robber barons the quick growth of the beta district or silicon heartland will probably end up disapointing tech nerds but its a clear exsample of what midwestern workers are willing to do adapt to WHATEVER is required to bring industry back.
