  1. I think one of the most under reported trends in china is the death of regional diffrences and increasing unitaryism. It used to be groups like the "yue" which includes cantonese or min and there gradually being subsumed and assimalated into the han chinese within the mainland. Yet diaspora communities like the min in taiwan or yue in singapore have taken drastically diffrent paths.
