My dad is from new orleans and Ive vistied quite a few times the gulf coast of louisiana has a weird thing where french are viewed as super cool and in some ways the social elites there "french quarter" of the city is the wealthiest as well but it still is far more southern with huge southern influence compaired to the rest of cajun area. Id personally consider it a grey area with still alot of southern influence but still a tiny bit of cajun influence.

I have to say different regions haveing different steriotypes is 100% true even goes down to different suburb where I live in ohio. I often hear people wish they had a "bexley babe" or "gahanna gal" since there women are viewed as less petty and less "instagramy" alongside more stable and trustworthy not to dox you. And thats just for the womens steriotypes.

@louisinese on the topic of Quebec its really interesting how closely similar the 2 areas were socially as quiet conservative catholic French pockets leading up to maurice duplice or huey long serving as tyrants of French north America at roughly the same time before taking complete 180s afterwords with Quebec going through a "quiet" revolution while Louisiana did not.

@eliotguerin192 Im aware of it being to the south what dutch new york was to the north. Just like new york it was a small city before a flood of americans moved in. But I have also driven by the rural cajun areas and its totaly different to new orleans as well. Like I said a grey area or serpate city state not like the other cajun areas. Theres even a bit of a weird pronounciation thing with how places like metairie are said.
