I am saddened by their loss. It is sad that there are evil people in this world who seek to do harm to others. It is sad we lost a soul who was willing to stand between us and that kind of evil.

So they terminated pursuit because of danger to the public. What's more dangerous, a single car full of guns and criminals which is accounted for by a pursuit vehicle, or the potentially dozens of criminals who are now armed with those now unaccounted for guns provided by the now unaccounted for criminals? Horrendously poor service by LAW ENFORCEMENT, who in my opinion have just made a bad situation Worse. The officer or officers who ended pursuit should be fired.

@jamesgarret5033 Sad indeed. However we need police to step up and do their civic duty. The fact that they are too afraid of perceptions tells me they are ineffective. The lack of action is far more dangerous over time then a potential car crash in my opinion. Either way is a risk, it always has been.

@txJoJo55 Maybe so, but in my opinion it was a Very Bad Call if that's the case. The criminals now have the ability to cause death or damage in many different locations because of this. Car accidents Suck, I know firsthand, but are often more survivable than gunshot wounds. So was it a Danger Call, or a Lack of Nerve call by the department. We may never know. Being a Police Officer means sometimes you are put in harms way and every officer knows that, or should know that. Sometimes that means making arrests under less then ideal conditions. They used to chase down expired tags and speeders with more vigor than they do criminals these days.

They have the right to peaceful protest, but once they blocked the vehicle and restricted it's movement that's infringement on freedom of travel and potentially unlawful detainment. That's an arrestable offense. And here I thought Grad students were supposed to be Smart. Apparently not. No sympathy for the students here.

@chicken_and_waffle_stomp True enough, but I question why air support was not kept in a tracking mode. While I do not normally suggest outrageous driving, the fact that the criminals are able to scare officers away from pursuit troubled me. Maybe we need some Mad Max style pursuit officers who have the nerves for the chase.

I think that if they are allowed the increase they should be required to present absolute proof the money is used as intended. For instance all service upgrade workorders must he accompanied by helmetcam footage and inspection paperwork showing the work was done and certified. If forward progress is not verifiable within one year, DTE should be required to refund its endusers at the rate of increase plus interest and also be required to reduce its rates to affordable levels. Talk is easy, action is not.

Great Idea. That starts at a local level. Elect a better quality leadership in your community and work outwards. Talk to your neighbors about their concerns and go to your city meetings. Ask the hard questions. They count on your silence and absence to make these policy changes unopposed.

Sorry but I have been around tons of porta John's and I think these people are exaggerating the odor issue. If the park is not heavily used in the winter it does not make financial sense to build a full restroom structure. Such a structure then needs heat, as well as cleaning which cost more money. You would think more people would understand cost management better then most do. (Edited for spelling)

If as an officer you ever speak of GUN CONTROL, you should resign your post and commission. You as officers know and understand the risk before you ever wear that badge. Now you complain about the risk and your answer is try and punish the people actually following the LAW. There will always be, unfortunatly, those who are willing and able to commit crimes among the population. That badge doesn't mean you are the only class able to respond with lethal force. SHAME ON YOU SIR! I am saddened by this loss as much as you are, but I also see a BIGGER PICTURE. And yes, they need to keep these criminals incarcerated. While they are out, guess what, we have to deal with them as well. So quit making excuses to attack my rights.

In regards to parents fighting at sports event, they should be held accountable for their actions. If they commit an assault arrest them. If it's verbal abuse ban them from attendance. As for the man on the plane complaining about the screaming baby. HE IS RIGHT. He should not have to deal with someone else's child for any reason. If the baby is screaming on the plane remove the parent and baby. I know I will catch flak for this statement but I also will not stay silent on an issue which should not be normalized. If you are a parent of a young child and decide to get on a plane and that child causes a disturbance, regardless of age, then you should be cited at the arrival airport for disturbing the peace. I don't care who you are, your need to have children and leave a mark on the world does not give you the right to disturb my peace and I for one would not have been silent about it either. I have no responsibility to tolerate your screaming infant for any reason whatsoever. I don't care if it doesn't feel good, I don't care if it can't control itself, and I don't care if you can't calm it down. That's your problem as the parent not mine. If it becomes my problem you better believe I am gonna be in your face about it. This man's reaction was not unacceptable. As a matter of fact this should be the normal reaction. If you as the parent of an infant child are not smart enough to know that screaming kids on planes is not acceptable and should never be allowed to become normalized then that explains a lot about why the world is so messed up. When I was an infant my parents had enough sense to NOT GET ON AN AIRPLANE WITH 200+ PEOPLE WHO DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FACT ITS AN INFANT. It is not my infant so don't expect me to be tolerant. If my child was screaming on an airplane I would have the decency to get off the plane so as not to burden other passengers with my problems.Airlines need to do more to accommodate passengers without children like offering commuter flights that do not allow children aboard. Being a parent is not a pass card for making others tolerate your kid. Shame on you, the hosts for throwing shade on a man with a justifiable complaint and pushing the idea that people should just accept this type of thing. No we should NOT ever accept this type of thing. As a matter of fact you as the parents have the responsabilty to make better decisions about travel when you have small children because nobody else should have to deal with your issues period. No sympathy. As an owner you should be outside monitoring your dogs especially when they are puppies. As for the Amazon driver, that puppy could have come from blocks away. Good on him for taking custody of the puppy before it was hit by a car.

Gun Free Zones just make the people in them more of a target for anyone who wants to commit a violent crime. The reason most criminals are so brazen is because they have the mindset that the people are unarmed, which is mostly true in Michigan with it's ridiculous blue politics. The answer is not gun control, it is allowing for everyone to possess a gun if they wish to. Those who commit crimes don't give a flip about your Gun Free Zones. On the contrary when they see a Gun Free Zone they know they can commit violent crimes without fear of being stopped by the people around them. It is also a reason people do not help others being assaulted, because they cannot meet or exceed the level of violence being committed without becoming a victim themselves. Funny that when a violent crime is committed people expect Law Enforcement Officials WITH GUNS to come save the day. Why should I not have the right to save my own life? The badge doesn't make an officers life or judgment any more or less valid then mine. An armed society is a polite society because if you act the fool, granny on the bus may be able to stop the person beating on and robbing another person instead of just taking video of it. These talking heads make me sick with their lack of perception.( Added content) Look at Chicago... Heavy gun regulations, high crime rates. Gun Laws and Gun Free Zones are not helping the people who are victims. They are only enabling the criminals who do not care about the rule of law anyhow. There was at least one level headed speaker in this group. If this is even considered then I would suggest that if anyone is a victim of a violent crime within this type of zone, or losses their life due to a violent crime in such a zone, that the lawmakers and officials who put the Zones in practice are charged as accessories to any crime committed in said Zones and are held equally accountable if not more so then the person or persons who committed the crime because they directly contributed to the victims inability to defend themselves. That in and of itself is a crime. This is not about the color of a person's skin, or their religion, political values or gender orientation. It is a question of whether or not each and every living breathing soul on Planet Earth has the ability to defend their right to survive should the need arise. It is better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

We need to return to it not being normal to walk around in masks. Masks are making these types of crimes easier to commit. In the past if you saw someone in a mask you would have thought they were up to something. Now they walk around emboldened.

"Tik Tok" like a clock ticking down as they watch the decline of our society by using the platform to start dangerous and fatal trends, as well as the data tracking concerns. Looking back through media stories of the past few years, how many destructive and or potentially fatal challenges have been posted on the platform. Stealing cars, destroying school property and sucker punch challenges. It is, or is becoming a weaponized platform in my opinion.

I seem to be seeing a lot of misplaced sympathy for a criminal who carjacked someone with a gun. In my opinion he is lucky getting smacked in the face ,body slammed and tossed in a cell is all he got. Be soft on criminals and they will always return to being a criminal. This criminal was certainly willing to use a firearm to commit a crime so laying hands on this punk is far less then he deserves.

Let's be clear the ultimate fault lies first with the criminals, second with the Gunstore owner for lack of security then Police for failure to apprehend. @_Dennis2Society215 I agree we have sh*t laws on the books, however in pursuits, local, county and state police are the determining factor in calling off pursuits, not lawyers or judges. Police first have to apprehend the suspects in order to file charges, which are then determined by the court to be lawful or unlawful arrests. They can pursue as long as needed depending on type of crime committed. I would say this was a priority pursuit personally.

@the-dark-side. In some cases it is the departments that decide they do not need said equipment. If it were up to me each cruiser would have an autonomous follow capable drone mounted to the roof rack for rapid deployment as well as bumper mounted GPS TAGGING PROJECTILE launchers for tracking. There are certainly many underlying issues at play here, but the fact that we as citizens can discuss options and try to find solutions is a start. Now we need to take back control of local politics and reinstate tougher laws and punishments by actually getting involved with our city politics.It may not be solved quickly but it can be solved.

Ever served in the military? I have and I have been a victim of violent crime and injured more severely by people here in my own country. These evil people don't give you a time out to call the POLICE nor do they stay to make a 911 call for MEDICAL HELP. These situations are the epitome of LIFE AND DEATH. You have the right to NOT CARRY A GUN if you so chose. In any event each person has the right to defend themselves. As long as there are people who commit violent crime we should all be prepared to deal with that situation.

On another note please do not think that I am not deeply saddened by the loss of life, because I am. I have LAW ENFORCEMENT members in my family. Like the military when you become a Police Officer you know and understand that you will be putting yourself in DANGER so hopefully others will not have to. But others do have to deal with this violence. NO OFFICER ANYWHERE, even if they wanted to could prevent every crime from being commited, and we as citizens do not always have the option to avoid the violence especially when it is directed at us. I have been beaten so badly by a shoplifter that I have a titanium skull plate and artificial eye sling to keep my eye in its socket. Lack of new thinking MY EYE, pun intended!

@terryowen6759 It's always a risk when you chase a criminal, and yes someone you know could die in a Police chase car crash,which is horrible, but life in general is a risk. As for property crimes, it is to the point where a criminal is willing to kill to steal property, so why should we not be able to kill to defend it? Furthermore if they were driving dangerously, the vehicle then qualified as a deadly weapon so why did the Police not pursue until they could PIT the car or there was a wreck. Save a motorist by terminating pursuit, lose maybe a dozen people or more to gunshots later, bad math.
