In Australia bicycles and bicycle riders are a menace. A menace to motorists and pedestrians. These IDIOTS we call politicians have given them ridiculous rights over everybody else. They will sit in the middles of a 70 km/h lane, purposely holding everyone up, Even though there is enough room at the side for them to stay out of the way. I have had one of these morons swerve in front of my car. Only reason apparently because he wanted to get to the corner first where the bike lane ends. I would have been well past him if he had not behaved like an idiot. They blatantly ride through red lights, almost collecting pedestrians. Which I know first hand. They are responsible for car accidents and injuring pedestrians. Perfect example of what happens when you give idiots too much power. I have always rode bicycles and I always give way to cars and pedestrians. I have never had an accident or had any problem getting around. These idiotic rules are pointless and dangerous. I see the point but I don't understand the mentality. This guy seems to be coming from the naïve idea that everyone should be using bikes. Firstly cars are not going away. They are especially necessary in countries like the U.S. and Australia, where large distances are covered. Secondly everybody does not want a bike to be their only transport. People don't want to do shopping on a bike. They don't want to ride 10 or 20km to work and back home on a bike. When you have entire countries that fit in one state in the U.S and Australia. Serious dude? If you are going to put rail everywhere you will have the same problem as roads. They would have to clear great tracts of land for the rails. Like the environmental idiots who think every house should have solar power and then cut down all the trees that are in the way of the Sun.
