Well, it looks like you actually were almost safe under the table :) The arrows' downward velocity will not increase proportionally to the drawing weight, but like a shuttle cock have an upper limit: After reaching that limit (say after falling from a height of 200m), arrows won't accelerate any more because of increasing air resistance, so velocity will stay constant from then on. As you estimated, with the recurve bow that speed might compare to less than half-drawing, so the table would maximally be penetrated for a few centimeters. With the compound bow, even if it were to shoot three times as high, i don't expect the arrow's downward velocity to be so much higher. And the speed & kinetic energy of the lighter crossbow arrows will be even less!
