  1. As much as I'd like to support your optimism, i'm not even sure we won't die from cancer any more... that presumes that AI's benefits will not only be for some super rich Elons, but also trickle down to us. Depends on the structure of future society, won't it?

  16.  @isaaclowe5000  I can appreciate how safe you feel about seeing the rock in the room which i don't see. But do you realise how rude and arrogant you seem to all the people not seeing the rock? Including all the people not seeing a rock, but a plant or a rhinoceros? If we want to communicate peacefully, we need to learn to be tolerant, even acceptant to other world views without assuming we are necessarily the ones correct all the time.

  17. ​@isaaclowe5000 Hey Isaac, i think you realize there are almost as many belief systems as humans. If everyone treats his "truth" like you, i fear we will have nothing but war and misunderstanding between different religions... which is basically what we had up to ~200 years ago. So far it didn't pan out that one truth won against the other ones and extincted all other belief systems, did it? I don't know if you like that kind of world, i personally would prefer a world of tolerance or even better, acceptance.

  18. As much as I'd like to go with this hopeful approach, i think more likely the orthogonality thesis is true and intelligence is completely independent from values. You can have an ASI paperclip machine.

  19.  @JessieArt  sorry i was being sarcastic there ;) Just wanted to point out that out-of-body travel and the like are very contested subjects, and even if they turn out to be real, AI being able to achieve them or not would even be more debatable. We should be careful with our prejudices before we can even assess its abilities.

  20.  @ausden_prowler  yes, Denmark is one of the best countries in that respect! Just, AGI is probably going to be developed in the US, which is a whole different story. Don't want to sound pessimistic, but we need to stay vigilant about the possibility that the first company/state developing AGI will keep it for itself to subdue all others.
