The fed raised rates by 1% twice before the irrational exuberance got the message,and than we had Black friday.stocks dropped 500 points.and than it was followed by the black Monday where it dropped a 1000 points and trading was halted for two hours,when it opened it dropped another 500 points and immediately shutdown, I remember it well.
