  2. Chemistry departments are almost always on the top floor of science buildings. There’s a reason. They also tend to be very close to the taller buildings so when there is a fire that building can be a blast shield.

  4. My dad was lucky enough to grow up in the 60s. He cheerfully recounts the time he could make certain chemicals in his garage. He even made those little poppers that make a bang when step on them, then sprinkled them throughout his high school and didn’t even get a slap on the wrist for it - he got a reward.

  5. There are two types of chemists - the ones who like drugs and the ones who like explosives. There is no other reason someone gets into chemistry. We all have a obsessive curiosity with one of the two.
