  1. In the tech industry this was rampant with senior devs working two regular dev jobs and making 75% more because the work load was less. One reason they did back to office and fired so many people - they were working 2 jobs.

  3. Then they should have no problem. I literally think it’s to check to see if people are even actually at their desk and bother to look. If they have a time card or are actually clocking into something it’s very different than someone whose job is to check email and they just didn’t.

  4. To defend office workers a little - it can be difficult to justify every hour because of how many things you’re juggling. I have some weeks where I am working overtime every night trying to get several projects done (hell if I remember what was going on with them even last week) and some times just not much is happening but I have to be prepared to jump on a new task when it comes in. It’s not so easy to justify as “I went here here and here” or “I did this, this and this” as some projects can take weeks by design.
