More normal, middle-ground societies (i.e. what Americans know as left-wing) work everywhere they're being applied, from 300k Iceland to 80 million Germany and everything in between. Actively stimulating the economy is what made Botswana one of the few successful Sub-Saharan African countries, being a middle-income country. I don't see why it wouldn't work in the US. Cultural differences aren't an issue: it worked in Canada too.

Belgium is actually quite divided, with the rich northern area of Flanders and the southern area of Wallonia, which is practically a developing country. It's a country of institutional and political chaos, holding the record for the longest government formation time, at 541 days (breaking their own record of 194 days). Molenbeek, the now well-known fertile ground for terrorists, tops off the problems. You do need to be pragmatic and realistic. There is one very important issue: the rampant inequality, by far the most of any developed country. Quite a few areas of the county look like a third world country, the American Dream is proving itself an illusion and the political culture is turning into a sensation-driven circus more and more. There's plenty of issues, and Trump is not the solution to any of them (and the manifestation of the latter).

  20. ***** Perhaps that's how the US created that, but it clearly doesn't work anymore. Adopting a normal system would solve the issues that are currently rampaging. Also, the social security provides a safety net, enabling people to jump to wealth easily. Extreme, millionaire-like wealth may be more difficult to acquire, but why should that be easy?
