7,8/10 Too much imperial system Feet, inches, pounds... why can't they use normal measurements?
216
Why are people so cross with Doug? He actually liked the car. Heck, this is a tribute to the British motoring industry. The verdict is, that this car is rubbish yet brilliant, which is a very accurate description of the British car industry. Lots of awful cars came out of it, but some were absolutely and undeniably brilliant, no matter how flawed they may be. This is a great example of such a car.

Driving an Aston implies that the owner will get other people's wives wet.
85
Silleb This is genuine criticism of the video. How am I supposed to know if 24 feet (not sure if that's an actual number in the video, but alright then) is much? My only context of size here is what I see.
19
The screen is not a tablet stuck to the dashboard; rather, it's properly integrated. Hence, this is not a BMW dash, it's better.
9
The 8C and 4C are in many ways terrible, but they make up for it very well. The 8C is among the ten most beautiful cars in history, while the 4C also pretty and on top of that extremely good fun to drive.
8
Michael Tarantino 'Immigrant' I live in the normal world, plus I'm not going to Google everything. Mind you, I have learned to adapt to mph.
7
Michael Tarantino Indeed. And I was born in a country with the metric system and have stayed there all my life.
5
This was clearly for jokes, no reason to take it so seriously...
5
But if you proceed to actually buy it, you have lost it immediately.
4
+gmansplit Better than driving your kids around twice a day.
3
BendtFender28 Kids are extremely expensive, I might as well spend it on something that isn't so awfully annoying.
3
I disagreed with you. Then I looked at the car. Now I can never look at the Viper normally again.
3
This. He's just poking fun in the good-spirited nature of British humour. Nothing to take seriously. I'm a closet Brit, and I like these videos.
3
Loaded Hard Drive Well excuse me for being interested in a car that isn't sold here. I'm just being interested.
3
+Samuel Abraham Careless Airways appears to have expanded its customer base to the US...
3
+Sean Not really, he quite clearly points out the many flaws of owning one. He mocks the car more than you might expect, and gives us an insight in what it's like to own one every day. I quite like that.
2
For this, I'd want an old, rotten Hilux and drive about carelessly.
2
+GT6SuzukaTimeTrials Well, technically, it's not on the market anymore. And they now sell Porsche 918 Spyders, McLaren P1's and LaFerraris. But the Insight Mk1 is still great.
2
Rekt
2
Of course, that could have been an act for the sake of the video. Barney Stinson is also played by a gay actor.
2
I don't see any pink elephants, so no.
2
That, and lap times on a track. Because I'm afraid the Mini would be thrashed in a drag race, so the cute little thing needs its revenge.
2
+Josh Monarc By your logic, an AMC Hornet is cool...
2
tmat04 Never mind, I didn't realise you were talking about the Spider specifically, and that it's different from the Coupe. Parker has poor taste, then.
2
I have never been more obsessed with a new car in my entire life, not since the Pagani Huayra anyway. I fucking love it.
2
Jakob Holgersson Fair enough, it's a choice of audience.
2
***** Roughly 30 cm, if I recall correctly. Still a useless unit.
2
sebaaaa56 That is if you're not raised with the metric system. Personally, to me, meters live more than the imperial system. I tend to go with '1 meter is half a person' or something like that. I can understand that the imperial system made sense at one point, but the metric system is infinitely more practical in today's world.
2
+Igor K Or any excessively large but still quite terrible SUV.
2
Igor K Some people genuinely need one, but most people drive them because they're insecure about their masculinity.
2
Good advice, although technically, Top Gear came up with that about a year ago.
2
+MaQuGo119 I'm an anti-public-transport fundamentalist and I'd take the bus over a PT Cruiser...
2
Samuel Abraham I haven't. It's a tragedy, however. Samuel Abraham That may be true, but it wasn't a very good car. The GLC is very good but also crushingly dull.
2
Samuel Abraham Indeed, though even than I'd buy neither. Mind you, I can't afford one, but I wouldn't buy them even if I could.
2
FV4030 So spoilt brats asking for things in supermarkets annoy you too?
1
GT6SuzukaTimeTrials True. Maybe the new Prius will, however.
1
Protoss Zerg Some Passats (280 bhp TSI comes to mind) are actually faster. Most aren't.
1
I like the Tropico 5 music at the beginning...

+Miles's NerdySwag! HB The only people who say that are either jealous people who can't stand others standing out from the crowd, or anti-luxury masochists. I should know, I live in a country where these people are abundant.
1
Miles's NerdySwag! HB I'm Dutch. I live in a country where anything that's not a grey Golf or something of that nature is scoffed at. Its owner is immediately considered a show-off. Who cares, it's his car.
1
Miles's NerdySwag! HB Ah, that's a fair point :)

+Aidan Sweeney In 2007, VW mounted a 650 bhp W12 engine in a Golf where the back seats are supposed to go, and gave it AWD. The result was undriveable, but unbelievably cool.
1
Aidan Sweeney I doubt reliability was the problem. The whole thing had a ridiculously short wheelbase and couldn't get around corners. Also, none of the equipment and buttons and so on actually work. Mind you, they had 3 weeks to develop the entire thing for a hot hatch convention, but still.
1
Aidan Sweeney I'm afraid it would. Still worth it, I agree.
1
In English, it means spoilt, obnoxious, self-entitled moron :)
1
This is the truth. British cars aren't very good, but they're still brilliant. It's a trait somewhat shared with Italian cars, and it's why I personally prefer them over German cars, but also why many others don't (and have every right for that). Yours, - A Dutch closet Brit
