Both sets of my Grandparents grew up in the south, Oklahoma and W. Virginia. I grew up hearing stories and as a boy thought nothing of it but as history. Later, as I became a adult I married a Hawaiian girl , a " Happa" or half breed of white and Islander. I heard her stories of how Half breed Hawaiians were treated harshly by full blooded Hawaiians, they were harassed, beaten up at school etc.....My wife is 51 so it isn't like this happened 80 years ago....These stories are spoken in closed rooms, not in public but in quiet places from other ears.....They don't put that on Hawaiian travel / vacation posters.

I was 12 when Dallas killed the wardens in 1981. I lived in Eastern Oregon and hunted and fished with my dad and uncles along the Idaho border. I recall Conley Elms was a nice guy , easy to get along with. Others proclaimed Bill Pogue had a entirely different reputation, not many had to many kind words to say about the guy. Dallas was poaching and as a hunter I despise poachers, they give honest hunters a bad name. Dallas thought the law didn't apply to him, well if as he claimed self defense why hide the bodies and run? Well thats simple he killed those men because he ( Dallas) figured the law would not see things his way, they didn't and he went to prison, escaped went to prison again, he was released in 2005.

Some cases are never solved. Police have heavy work loads and new cases arrive. After 11 years even if they do find her identity they have to find COD ( cause of death) if murder then who, after 11 years that can be tricky, if ever I.D ed. Time can be your friend or foe, people move, die or change their name etc. Some times its like throwing darts in the dark hoping for a bullseye.

When I was in college I took Psychology....When I went to the police Academy I remember well being told, " Its not important to understand why criminals do as they do, what is important is to know they do it." That was 1991.

@cazhickling8151 Really, well 20 years of experience has taught me one thing, criminals will do anything they want, they are criminals.

@cazhickling8151 Studying a subject is one thing, 20 years of being in the trenches up to your eye balls in it is a completely different thing. OTJT ( On the job training) vastly teaches you what college does not, the real world and in the real world things are never as expected or text book.

I've hunted my entire life ( 40 + years), only ever heard of one or two hunting accidents . One was a boy my son went to school with. He had a loaded firearm in a vehicle, which is a no, no. It discharged killing him.

People kill, matters not the item used to commit the act, whether a firearm or kitchen knife.

As a retired Ranger , I could not imagine being a unarmed Constable in any country. With all the criminals and their activity being unarmed makes me raise an eyebrow. Now I know Britain had unarmed " Bobbies" back in the day, but in todays world its rather jaw dropping.
