This is why I am a huge advocate of gun rights. America needs to restore the rights of regular citizens to have access to guns. The government should also subsidize purchases of firearms for first-time gun buyers and a merit based funding strategy. Basically, if you have a clean record and you have a history of being a law-abiding citizen, then you could receive options for something a little more expensive. As long as you're not a felon, then everyone should be mandated to own a gun. You don't necessarily have to carry it everywhere. But you would at least have to own one. That also comes with teaching gun safety and responsibility in every public school in America, starting from 5th grade, and then every year until you graduate. Then you'd receive a diploma and a firearm. Violent crime would pretty much come to an end immediately.
