Re: Sam asking about if there have been other conspiracy movements in history that are similar: Read up on the actual witch hunts that went on in, mostly, Europe, lasting for approximately 300 years. I hadn’t realized until recently that they went on so long. That was probably the largest, most openly practiced, and the longest of conspiracy theories in history, which also probably caused the most deaths. I’m reading a fascinating book about that now called Caliban and the Witch, which traces life in Europe from the feudal days and witch-burning to the rise in Capitalism, Marxism and today’s current upswing in misogyny. Pretty heavy stuff.
