There’s also the irony that many homeless people, esp. people who live in their cars, are members of Planet Fitness because a) they’re nearly everywhere and you can use any of their facilities with membership, and, b) you can go in and take a shower and get ready for work there (if they’re lucky enough to have a job). Plus, I believe you can safely leave your car or van there overnight to sleep in. So, there’s the confluence of the rich and poor in one place.

@InternetMameluq Where did you get that idea? Unfortunately, there quite a few women, especially younger women, who have learned to parrot expressions like “I’m not really a feminist because…”, or, “I don’t need feminism because…”, or, “I think feminism has gone too far because…”, when the real problem is that they don’t have any idea of what feminism really means. So many young people, including both men and women, seem to have gotten the idea that feminism means that women want to be “better” or “above” men, I’m guessing for “payback”. When, in reality, feminism just means that women want to be treated as equal citizens, in the laws, at work and in every area of life. As one of my favorite expressions goes: “Feminism: The radical notion that women are people”, and a favorite organization’s name is Equal Means Equal. That’s it. Period.

@williamcarter9066 Same here. It was pretty liberating, but, above all, it taught me many valuable lessons about myself and my abilities to survive as well as how to accept help, and kindness, when offered, as well as a keen discernment of someone’s intentions.

@strauchdieb7628 That never occurred to me. That experience was many, many years ago, and long before fitness clubs, so I didn’t have that advantage. But one makes do with what one has.
