  1. It’s not surprising, but the right wing has been fed the idea that “libruls” want to take all their guns away. But of course, groups like the NRA, Fox News and the RNC want to stoke division and make everything an us or them situation so they can get your votes or your money. They certainly don’t want us to be friends. I’ve had to tell a couple of conservatives that, no, we don’t want to take all your guns away. That’s why we call what we want “common sense” gun laws. We just really want to stop all the mass shootings. However, I do also think that anyone who has threatened a domestic or intimate partner with gun violence should not be able to have a gun, at least until he has gone through a certain amount of therapy and shows a real change in behavior because far too many men have shot their wives or girlfriends to death (I just checked that number, and the latest numbers show 840 women per year killed, and over 1 million shot or shot at and still alive since the studies were started).
