Joe Biden, in the campaign trail, also promised “to do everything possible to see that the Equal Rights Amendment becomes law”, but, not only has not done anything to put it in the Constitution, is, with Merrick Garland, in court now to fight it. When Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA in 2020, Donald Trump called David Ferriero, the Chief Archivist, and told him NOT put it in the Constitution. All Biden would have to do to make 51% of the population of the country equal under the law would be to call the Chief Archivist and tell him to put it in the Constitution. I follow the old maxim, “Follow the money”, so I can only assume that the large corporations that are some of his biggest donors have told him that it would cost them too much to actually pay their female employees the same as their male employees. Just my opinion. Women have always been told, “just wait a bit longer, we’ve got other more important things to do first”, so I guess the women of the U.S. will just have to wait another hundred years before they’re legally equal citizens.
