@evamichael3702 No, it is an ancient tribal practice that just happens to be primarily done by people of the Muslim faith, and those people will often say it is a practice of Islam. However, there is NOTHING anywhere in the Koran or original texts that calls for it.

nomopoly2515 You obviously didn’t listen to the video when this woman described the pain and horror she experienced during, and after her FGM. Not to mention the trauma that is still a part of her. She also learned to never trust her family again, with good reason. You are simply continuing to spout the lies that have been told for thousands of years in order to control, manipulate, mutilate and terrorize your girls and women. It just proves to me that men are so weak, and they know they’re weak, so they always think of ways to hurt their women and girls to control them, yet men don’t feel the need to exercise self-control when they beat their wives or cheat on their women and potentially bring home sexually-transmitted diseases to their wives. And you’re so afraid that women will leave or control you. Why is that? You men apparently have never learned that mutual respect and working together with each other, as equals, is a much more happy, loving and beneficial way to live within a relationship. You don’t love your wives, you just buy them or force them into marriage then control them in order to prove you’re “real men”. This may surprise you, but actually loving a woman means respecting her as a human, not as an animal you can have sex with whenever you want, not beating or hurting her, and not controlling her makes a woman, naturally much happier, and wanting to stay with you. THAT is what a “real man” is and does. If my man tried to control me, much less hit or beat me, I would immediately kick his a** out of the house, change the locks and file for divorce, and he would never see me again. Of course, I live in a first-world country and not in a country where everyone wants to live as if it’s still the Fifth-Century.

@debbiesmith4186 And circumcision does not require the removal of ALL the skin of the penis, and does not interfere with sexual pleasure later in life, nor interfere with urination, which can and does cause infections in victims of FGM. And, of course, as boys, it doesn’t interfere with menstruation and childbirth. All of that happens with FGM. Women who have had FGM also have higher rates of maternal death in childbirth. So, while I understand the argument against circumcision, it is nowhere near the same as FGM.

@teresiamaina9573 And it happens in almost every country in the world, even in the U.S., usually among people of the Muslim faith, even though in Islam, the practice is not approved of, but some people still believe it is.
