Congratulations! When I got married, my husband told me he had always been a Republican (because his family was, a very common reason) but after listening to me talk about politics, he switched to Democrat. It was one of my proudest moments in life! And he has voted Democrat in every election since then…and we’ve been married for 30 years!

@lavatube8060 Yes, I think we’ve all been disappointed by a friend or others (including family) who we thought were more intelligent than that. It just goes to show us that we really don’t truly know anyone. It’s always frustrating when we explain things to them in a logical manner and they just dig their heels in and won’t even consider another point of view. That’s why I don’t even bother talking to people about the election much anymore. And people who are still undecided at this point are pretty much a lost cause, even though it’s easy to think “oh, here’s one I can help decide”. It doesn’t really work.

@Smooshes786 Please…that’s NOT how we win people over. That kind of talk, especially the “should we report you?” threat is just as negative as something trump or one of his sycophants would say. We bring them to our side with welcoming kindness because that’s who we really are, the opposite of trumpism. Besides, that person was responding to someone who said they NEVER voted for trump.

The comments sections have given me so much hope this year. While I realize these are mostly Democrats commenting, there are still lots of Republicans here saying that they voted for Harris/Walz, along with literally hundreds of people from countries all over the world supporting Kamala, and cheering on our democratic principles, it just shows the massive amount of enthusiasm for Kamala. And I have NEVER seen this much support for one party in my entire life, and I’m 74 years old! I think many, many of us realize we HAVE to win this time because we see that trump will literally destroy our democracy.
