When Elie Mystal said, “Your Constitutional rights don’t mean anything if you can’t sue the government to protect those rights”, it made me think about how that’s exactly why Congress has never allowed the Equal Rights Amendment to be put into the Constitution, even though in 2020 the required 38th state ratified it (of course Congress also added “special stipulations” onto the original amendment (but not the original text) that would make it harder to pass, like the deadline for the 38 states to ratify it, which has only been used one other time in the past, and should not apply. Except, of course, Congress thinks it should apply, which is why they dumped it after Virginia became the 38th state to ratify it. Besides, in hindsight it’s pretty obvious they had a good idea that SCOTUS was going to be dumping Roe v. Wade in a few months, and they knew that could not happen if the ERA was put in the Constitution. Many women think women have equal rights, and many men have said to me that women do, but, as is very obvious now, we do not. Especially with regards to what Mystal said, if a woman knows she is being paid less at her workplace for the same kind and amount of work as a man in her position, she can’t do anything about it but complain because, without the ERA in the Constitution, she cannot bring a lawsuit against her company, and that keeps her powerless, which is exactly what Republicans want, women to be powerless. And, with this decision being discussed in the video, even if the ERA were in the Constitution, she still could not. ALL of our rights, men’s and women’s, are being stripped away, little by little.

  4. The problem here is that the conservative justices, themselves, are making the law irrelevant, with or without trump. They are making our democracy irrelevant. Which is probably why they’re getting so much money now, because when their jobs become irrelevant, they have their nice little nest egg all set up, and they’ve developed a cadre of wealthy “donors” who they can always tap for more for other favors.
