  1. I always say that we saw The Handmaid’s Tale as a warning. Republicans saw it as a blueprint, with all of them as Commanders. Project 2025 is also a marriage of The Handmaid’s Tale and the book 1984.

I’m old enough to remember newsreels before a movie talking about the Nazi occupation of Germany and WWII (plus, my father was a pilot right after WWII) and I see the very obvious echoes of those events in Project 2025. I’m stunned that many in the younger generations aren’t seeing it. Of course, reading 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale helped solidify it, as Project 2025 is almost a marriage of those two books. And Margaret Atwood (the author) said publicly that the examples in The Handmaid’s Tale are stories of true programs and events that have actually happened in history in some place at various times throughout history. I’ve been saying, since the Dobbs decision, that the conservatives saw it, not as a warning, but as a blueprint, and here we are.

  3. Oh yes. He said, “we have the votes. We’ve fixed it. You’ll ever have to vote again”. How much more blatant can he get?! And, as if voting is such a burden for us. I consider it, not only a right, but a privilege, and I will absolutely exercise it.

  5.  @nadjabelinda63 After all their comments about a “bloodbath”, yes, I’m more than a little concerned. That’s not just hyperbole for them, I take it as a promise. If they lose the upcoming election, I think they’re going to double down on their January 6 plan, and treat the last one as a test drive to iron out their mistakes. We need to be prepared in every way.

  6. Please, everyone, if you haven’t already read it, or you did so long ago and don’t remember the details, read 1984 by George Orwell. Also, read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, or watch the whole series again, from the beginning. Project 2025 is essentially a marriage of the two stories. It not only can happen here, it will happen here if we don’t stop it NOW.
