  1.  zachbarker7296 Well, how would you converse with or question someone who called you out of the blue and wanted to tell you about how he’s a serial killer? It’s not like Howard has had a lot of training in this, nor experience. He doesn’t talk to serial killers every day. I’m sure it was a bit of a shocker, even for him.

Howard didn’t have tracing equipment, but I’m pretty sure they had at least one other phone in the building, where the killer couldn’t overhear the conversation, where they could have gotten someone to call the FBI, or NOLA police at a minimum. Maybe somebody could have gotten a trace going from there. He was on the line long enough. But then, things were different in police work back then compared to now. I hope he’s the guy they got.

  5.  zachbarker7296  Some of both, perhaps. Just different theories, I guess. No criticism meant. I have no idea how I’d react if someone called me out of the blue and told me they were a serial killer. I don’t think I’d be as calm as Howard, and I’d probably be looking to get someone else to call the FBI right away without telling the killer.
