  1. It’s very sad. And it’s inhumane. Unaffordable medical bills are the #1 cause of homelessness in the U.S. Many people lose their homes because they get sucked dry by medical bills. And, of course, homelessness is also costly for the country. One of the big problems is the massive numbers of pharmaceutical ads on TV and in magazines, which are VERY expensive, and why the costs of medical care is so high. In some countries with a socialized healthcare system they don’t allow TV ads for pharmaceuticals, which saves massive amounts of money to help cover actual healthcare. But we’re supposed to “pull ourselves up by our bootstraps” when minimum wages haven’t gone up in over a decade while the cost of living skyrockets. I’ve always felt that people shouldn’t be left to die from a fixable medical problem just because you’re poor. This is the problem with capitalism. We need healthcare for all in the U.S., and NOW.
