  1. Grant Wiley Esq., I completely agree. I saw a group of UFOs way back in the winter of 1968/‘69. I was at a brand new university in Central Florida, well out in the woods (of course, it’s all part of the major metropolitan area now, but back then there was absolutely nothing nearby), and a group of us students living in the dorms were outside one evening and saw a number of white lights in the sky (and, no, we were not high!). I wish I could remember after all these years exactly how many there were, but it was about 5 to 8 of them. I find it difficult to determine altitudes from the ground, but I would say they were about the altitude of a single engine private airplane like a Cessna. They looked like many of the standard lights-in-the-sky videos you see in TV shows about UFOs, not huge, but big enough to be noticed, and in a relatively loose cluster, as in not in any kind of pattern like a triangle. They only moved around slightly, and were totally silent, and were there for only about ten minutes or so. Then they started turning orange, then red, then just disappeared. They didn’t go flying off; it was like they just “winked out”. I wish I had had a camera, but back then a camera probably wouldn’t have taken a decent picture. Someone in our group called the local radio station to report it, and it was quickly stated that we saw “swamp gas”. That was no swamp gas, especially at a few thousand feet in altitude! Yet, interestingly, about fifteen minutes later someone sent a helicopter out (probably from the Air Force base about ten or so miles away) to look around, but, of course, by then the UFOs were gone. I don’t think anyone, especially military, would send a helicopter out to investigate swamp gas! But, you’re so right; it definitely changed my perception, about life and the universe in general, but what or who else might be out there, and what that might mean for us and our planet and our place in it. It’s certainly something I could never forget. I’m sorry to say I’ve never seen anything else like that in the years since.
