@irisheyesofbelfast No problem at all. Yes, I do understand the difference, which is why I said “it’s not generally referred to as euthanasia”, but I guess I should have expounded on the differences between the terms. I don’t know that I agree with euthanasia, though, as it could, theoretically, mean that some people will be given the drugs when they’re not able to agree to the process. And, yes, Dr. Kevorkian was one of my “heroes” regarding the medical aid in dying process, but I think he was only punished with prison because he got a bit “cocky” and assisted a death on live TV (I think it was on 60 Minutes). He was already well-known in news at that point, but I think that doing it on live TV upset too many people, so they had to arrest him. I think that otherwise, he did a great service for the right-to-die process. Switzerland also does the service without the “6 months terminal” restriction, or citizenship status, like the Netherlands. It’s pretty much “any time for any reason”. I’m already checking out the best-known place that does it in Switzerland.
