@ScarletAdhesive The farmers simply don’t want to sell. It’s their family farm, it’s what they’ve known, and it’s what they love, and what they and their families have invested their lives in.

@spyder001 But doesn’t Eminent Domain have to have been established in the past, before the original sale of the property, or noted in ensuing sales, and it’s usually done by the government for a government project. Isn’t that what “eminent means”? (As in “previously established”). Not sure if I’m right on that, but that was what I thought. Maybe I’ll have to dig deep into Google and Wiki. And it also seemed to me to be a way the government fixed a property sale so that they could take said property back (“steal”) from the newer owners. If I’m correct, doesn’t that mean that these corporations are attempting to act like the government, in that they are considering themselves their own government.

@aliannarodriguez1581 Yes, that was in the 50s under Eisenhower. Which is why we didn’t have any billionaires back then. (Like Bernie Sanders said, “America doesn’t need billionaires”. We should have listened to him). Then Nixon started bringing it down to pander to the wealthy, then Reagan just blew it all out of the water and gave the wealthy almost everything they wanted, and every Republican president has kept lowering their taxes ever since.

I feel like I’m starting to see a trend here of various takeovers by the wealthy of previously established areas of commerce and politics. It reminds me of how the Heritage Foundation and the GOP have simply decided they want to take over the entire political system in the U.S. so that only Republicans will run every single “elected” office in the country from now until forever, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Also, I’m seeing similarities in how certain real estate groups are buying up houses and just sitting on them until they have a whole area until they can jack up the price sky high. Also, I learned a while ago that Bill Gates is now the single largest farmland property owner in the country. I’m wondering what his plan is for all that farmland. Being a “tech billionaire”, it seems like he’s likely to be planning something similar. It all just seems like there’s a massive takeover by billionaires that’s going on right under our radar, and under our noses.

That’s undoubtedly why Bernie Sanders said, “America doesn’t need billionaires”. They all seem to adopt the Libertarian attitude of “I can do anything I want, and nobody can infringe on my right to do it”. My family is all originally from WV, so I know what you mean about strip-mining. It’s the “destroy everything in my way so I can get what I want” philosophy.
