Amen, Sister! I knew by the time I graduated high school that I didn’t want children (for at least two dozen different reasons). At age 30 (when I first got married) I had a tubal ligation, and, now, at 74 years old, I have never, not once regretted my decision.

@liviwaslost Same with me. Even as a little girl, I never liked baby dolls. I always preferred stuffed toy animals.

It’s interesting (but logical) that so many economists and politicians think the whole reason people are no longer having children at a runaway rate is because of the economic condition. While that is often a large part in many people’s decision, that is only one of many, many reasons. Some have genetic health conditions that we don’t care to pass on, some have never learned from their own parents how to be a good parent (and parenthood seems to be the only skill that everyone thinks “you’ll just figure it out as you go along”. How do you think that would go with driving a car, or any other skill that requires training)? And how many kids get messed up because of that lack of training? Also, in the U.S. the educational system has gotten so bad that it’s affecting nearly every aspect of society, including politics (which, of course, created it in the first place). Some people want to live a life traveling, which would be greatly hindered having children. And some people simply don’t care to be around children. There are as many reasons as there are people deciding not to have children.

@BreakingGaia Your last sentence, more than the first, certainly describes the educational system in the U.S. And it was planned. It was planned by the Heritage Foundation (which wrote Project 2025), and it really started taking hold in 1981 when Heritage (which was founded in 1973) started “helping” Ronald Reagan with the educational system, the system which we now refer to as “the dumbing down of America”). In fact, in Project 2025 (should trump win), they want to completely eliminate the Department of Education. Scary, huh?

@asparrow9876 Oh, you poor men! Always being put upon by women making demands. It’s not like you haven’t been running every single aspect of humanity for at least 7,000 years, always making the women the brunt of your policies and putting the burden on them to pick up the slack. You’ll adapt, I’m sure.
