Oooh, I love the term “feral woman”. I think that’s what I’m going to start calling myself. Those were the only good two words in your comment. And regarding your statement “men have tamed the world to the point where women can live independently”:
1. Trust me, men didn’t “tame the world” alone. Men have ALWAYS used women’s labor, &
2. But men don’t ALLOW us to live independently.
Who says it’s not the “optimal situation”? That’s simply your opinion. Many women prefer it. Also, we old women who have chosen childlessness (or child free-ness) do NOT regret it in old age. I’ve never, ever, not once regretted my decision. And being alone is not so bad, either. We can always get a cat or a dog. (Although I’m married, but at least I didn’t have children, too.) And, I’d much rather regret not having had children (if I did regret it, which I don’t) than regret having them. There are far too many of us who grew up with mothers who regretted having children, because, even if they don’t tell us they regretted having us, which many of them actually do, they let us know it in many ways.

When I was a kid I had a what’s called an inverted lisp. It caused me to say the letter s in words all mushy and wet-sounding in between my back teeth, kind of like ‘esh’. My mother made me recite, every single night for about 10 times, while coaching me how to say it right, “she sells seashells by the seashore” until I finally got it right. I was so afraid it would take me years to get it, but I was shocked at how quickly I had it down pat. Now, many, many years later, I don’t even remember that I had that speech impediment until something like this comes up. So, keep hope, reach out to a speech therapist, and you’ll be amazed how quickly you can move beyond this stage of your life. If I can do it and this kid can do it, YOU can do it. I don’t believe that 100%, I KNOW it 100%. Happy life to you.

@derrickjoe1872 Yeah, tell that to the millions and millions of working women, ones who are, yes, creating and rearing other people, but also saving lives, teaching your children, running corporations, creating and starting their own businesses, writing books, including textbooks, working for The People in Congress, and every other branch of the government, and the one soon to be our President. You’re living in a past that’s dead and gone. Big surprise for you, pal, this the 21st Century, not the 12th. I know, it feels hard to give up all the power you’ve felt you deserved for centuries, but the tide is shifting, and women WON’T go back. We are not, and are not going to be Handmaids.
