  1. J-20 is basically an interceptor that is designed to shoot down high valued air assets like AWACs, tankers, transports, and bombers, and then retreat back to safety. I don't think it will ever enter into a dog-fight with enemy fighters, that's the job of J-16 and J-10C, both are 4th++ gen fighters. And also I don't think J-20 would be facing F-22 on its own, it will likely be accompanied by a squadron of 4th++ gen fighters as well as some unmanned drones, the development of the two-seat J-20S is a testament to what I said. For reconnaissance missions to detect approaching enemy 5th gen fighters, PLAAF will likely deploy WZ-8 and WZ-7 drones.
