@jamalwilburn228 Please stop spreading false information, the shooter is Taiwanese not Chinese. He was born in Taiwan in 1953. He has nothing to do with mainland China. His family name is Chou which is a typical Taiwanese name but not Chinese (in China the name would be spelled as Zhou). Please stop the absurd hatred against Chinese.

@abc2390986 Because "Han Chinese" isn't a real ethnic group it's actually made up of various peoples. And just as an English-speaking person can be from the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia etc. a Chinese-speaking person can also be from various countries or places not necessarily China. In this case the shooter is from Taiwan and there's no evidence whatsoever that he is working for China or has any connection to China. Sure he might self-identify as Chinese but that won't change the fact that he was born and raised in Taiwan. I could self-identify as an alien from another planet but it won't change the fact that I'm an earthling.

@forestforce2951 Meaningless. It doesn't matter what his self-identification is, it won't change the fact that he was born and raised in Taiwan and has a typical Taiwanese name with Taiwanese spelling.
