As a native Chinese, here’s a rule with Chinese restaurants that I want people to remember. The more delicious the food is, the oilier the food is, the dirtier the restaurant is. For authentic and clean Chinese restaurants I would recommend the one Xi Jinping went to several years ago called Qingfeng Steamed Buns. It’s not the most delicious steamed bun I’ve ever eaten, but at least it’s clean. But that restaurant is only found in China, not in America.

I'm Chinese and I can confirm that "ha ha" means "out out" in Fujianese dialect. Most of Chinese restaurant owners in the US and Canada are of Fujianese origins.

@StyleswithCourtney The rule of thumb is large restaurant chains in China are cleaner but the food would often times taste blander, whereas smaller restaurants may taste better but they are also dirtier.

@EnzoTheBaker At least the steambed bun chain wouldn't dare to poison the leader of the party, so its quality is guaranteed. I think Xi did that on purpose, maybe he knew that a lot of Chinese restaurants are dirty, so he ate in a not-so-dirty restaurant to show Chinese people which restaurant is ok to eat.

Most of these types of restaurants are owned and operated by Fujianese migrants, who might have entered the US illegally. Yet they use Cantonese names for their restaurants, causing Cantonese people to be unfairly blamed and discriminated on certain online discussion boards in China.

Most of such CN restaurants are operated and ran by Hokkien/Fujian people. It's their major business in America.
