We were right to scrap Ocean. She was built to civilian standard to save money and time, this gave her a shorter life span of 20 years. No amount of money or maintenance can fix or retain hull life. The vessels faults were always increasing as a result.

@McRocket Aircraft carriers from ww2 are very different to Ocean, also those vessels you name were not used as extensively as Ocean. Ocean was sold before refit, if she wasn’t sold she was due a refit after her last deployment anyway, where you get your 90 billion from is beyond me too. Not fitting the QE class carriers with cats and traps was a great idea, considering we don’t own and are not buying any aircraft that use the system. What you want is a carrier with a system that doesn’t match our fleet. Cats and traps cost far more to implement and maintain as well as use more space below deck and when one fails all of them fail as they are linked. Overall we got a good deal for ocean considering she was past her sell by date that was really showing.

@mrrolandlawrence They didn’t get a bargain. The hull life of ocean was 20 years due to it being built under civilian conditions to save money and time. Without the refit ocean wouldn’t have gone to sea for the last few years and needed another one before use to Brazil. Not a bargain at all for its condition.

Sound like Wayne Cusinz

Yes

You don’t’ spend a whole year doing this.
2
Canada? Who?
2
Did you not watch this? Every person serving met the correct standard and therefore not civies. 1/3 of the personnel are deploying for the first time and are therefore expected to not get it correct straight away hence the training before entering hostile areas.
2
How?
1
@goodputin4324 the ability to launch helicopters and marines and respond to anything due to its design is one of a kind. Like saying every warship serves no purpose.
1
Would be unusual for any organisation not to change
1
This is 4 years old
1
The vessel was sold in 2018.

Ancient

This ship isn’t service.
1
@gmonynegro595 the ship was sold to Brazil 4 years ago
1
Oooh sorry hard
1
Idiot. The UK had a cracking deal, 80 million for a vessel that was past its sell by date. No amount of money can fix hull life.
1
Scrapped in 2018

Videos can be uploaded when ever they want, no rule for this. You’re making a sweeping assumption that every teenager doesn’t respect life too, the majority do choose to study further and join the forces.
1
In 2018 yes, not now.
1
Care to elaborate?
1
@markspencer171 You know you’re losing the argument when you make sweeping statements with no substance.
1
@absjones2916 Are you stupid? Ocean was in a poor state, built to civilian standards to speed up build time lead to a shorter life span. No amount of money will fix hull life. 80 million was a good price for the condition.
1
No rule against it
1
Calm down, a third of the crew are doing it for the first time and are expected not to get it right first time. Hence why this is called training
1
Sold to Brazil in 2018
1
It’s should have not should of. Your comment is a contradiction.
1
They did hence its refit before its last deployment
1
Sold because the ship was past its time. No money was taken from the MOD budget to be given out to contractors.
1
@CH-pv2rz Ocean’s life was 20 years due to be built to civilian standards to save money and time. No amount of money or maintenance can fix hull life. We got a good deal form80 million looking at her condition.
1
Shut it down to start it up again, nothing dramatic there.
1
Jog on
1
Submarine, not sub.
1
20 years is old as it had a shorter life span.
1
Not rented, not true
1
@bernardedwards8461 Was never given back to us or rented
1
Too much time
1
The refit was never designed to fix any problems, but to mitigate the current problems the vessel had due to her shorter life span as she was built to civilian standards. No amount of money or refits can fix the hull life of any vessel. There was never a skip jump installed on HMS Ocean. There is a ski jump on the new class of carriers for lightning jets that operate off the vessel.
1
@shalaconballard9912 after they sold it, the vessel has spent little time away from port in the last three years as it was a bad purchase to buy an old ship.
1
@shalaconballard9912 No response, shock…
1
This ship never sunk under the Royal Navy.

80 million*

No amount of money or maintenance can fix hull life
1
@RJM1011 Ocean was built with a civilian class hull giving it a shorter life span of 20 years.
1
@RJM1011 The ship flooded this year. Read the news and do your homework before you make stupid comments like this.
1
@RJM1011 No response, shock…
1
@RJM1011 You claimed the vessel had no problems and was scrapped early then when corrected nothing.
1
Hence why we sold it
1
We’ve had a new one for a few years now.
