@lc7327 Cats and traps are good if you have a bottomless budget, you have to maintain the cats and traps as well as repair them over time and repair the small bits of damage they do to aircraft as well. The ski jump works and is effective so what's the problem? The F35B also uses vertical landing and take off. If one brakes the others cannot be used, suspending all flights, how efficient is that.

We own 17 F35B's, all of which are fully operational with y of these taking part in overseas operational duties and the rest shadowing Russian aircraft when operational. The others are in America flying under British pilots until those are ready. QE has embarked F35B’s for the first part of air trials being successful and are now on stage 3. No aircraft carrier in the world, even the Americans don’t start with aircraft. The UK have just ordered another 17 with the overall total to reach 138. Stupid comment. It wasn't two new carriers or the NHS/schools. Warships are not just for going to war, you would know if you knew anything about defence.

You don't know a lot do you.

aQuestionableQuestion The propulsión problems have been sorted out or are being sorted now. Hasn’t stopped all 6 from being out at once.

jenny gore Not a waste of money at all, any evidence? The F35B doesn’t require cats and traps. Cats and traps are good if you have a bottomless budget, you have to maintain the cats and traps as well as repair them over time and repair the small bits of damage they do to aircraft as well. The ski jump works and is effective so what's the problem? The F35B also uses vertical landing and take off. If one brakes the others cannot be used, suspending all flights, how efficient is that.

Micki Creek the Royal Navy hace enough escorts. Google it.
1
No he didn't, any evidence.
1
ends all All ships are a ‘she’.
1
Daniel Haines No evidence of that happening.
1
Daniel Haines Despite the fact that all 6 have been deployed at once recently and some have had their propulsion systems fully fixed. They aren’t being mothballed at all.
1
Daniel Haines Apart from the two occasions of having 6 at sea there has always been a training ship in harbour, not a mothball. “Shows how much you know”, you know you’re loosing the argument when you resort to blank insults.
1
Daniel Haines I didn’t bring up HMS Bristol at all, very odd to mention the vessel especially as she is used by cadets predominantly and hasn’t been in service for longer than I’ve been alive.

John Love No.

You have no idea do you. The Russians are not going to blow up either carrier when on the move or in port. Under the same principle, why haven't the Russians bombed any US carrier at sea or in port then? Also, under the same principle any possible target that doesn't move is "Just sitting there." You have far too much time on your hand to rant about a topic with no evidence or solid subject point.
1
You have very poor size perception,

Ramps are newer than cats and traps as they were developed first. 1
The RN have enough crew and escorts for the vessel.
1
You have no idea do you.
1
@hakeembintwahachotai7065 Again, no idea with no evidence or consideration for procedures and general defenses.
1
Zero Sum Won’t happen.
1
You have no idea do you. The carrier is not a "slow lumbering target" at all, any evidence of that? If you think Russia and Iran will try to hit our carriers then you have left the bounds of credibility with no evidence either.
1
@kennethhammond6683 No ship in the RN is a "slow lumbering" target. Any ship from any force would make great targets for any anti-ship missiles.
1
@kennethhammond6683 Ah the hypersonic missile, which no country has operational models of. Great argument there.
1
If you keep up with defence news you would know that the RN will have one carrier at sea on operations at a time, this has been set in stone for years. The carriers were not built to create jobs at all, any evidence of this? You have no evidence to say that any carrier will be sold or mothballed. If they were elephants they would be grey elephants not white ones. We own 17 F35B's, all of which are fully operational with y of these taking part in overseas operational duties and the rest shadowing Russian aircraft when operational. How about doing a bit of research instead of commenting a heap of lies with no credible evidence.
1
Are you stupid? We own 17 F35B's, all of which are fully operational with y of these taking part in overseas operational duties and the rest shadowing Russian aircraft when operational. The others are in America flying under British pilots until those are ready. QE has embarked F35B’s for the first part of air trials being successful and are now on stage 3. No aircraft carrier in the world, even the Americans don’t start with aircraft. The UK have just ordered another 17 with the overall total to reach 138. This has all been known for years, do you live under a rock?
1
Not a white elephant at all. If it was to be mothballed it would be a grey elephant anyway.
1
Tim Keeley Explain then.
1
You have no idea what you are talking about do you.
1
Name a country with a powerful Navy that doesn't have poverty. It wasn't end poverty or have two carriers for the budget. Stupid comment with no thought or evidence.
1
freeman bill Explain.
1
freeman bill Very weak point considering most warships spend more time not physically fighting.
1
bigone1ism How do you she doesn’t have one.
1
Iran won't sink the carrier. You are aware how hard it is to sink a carrier.
1
Smiff Not useless at all and have proven so.
1
NO

There is no evidence that the EU will take control of our forces or any European force.
1
Joe Bryant Propulson problem. The issue was that the ships were operating in warm waters when the ship uses a water cooling system like most ships. The propulsion then failed as a result, this has been mended.
1
Bremner's Ghost Lockheed Martin are the F35B people not BAE as they aren’t the main seller. This is nothing to do with Brexit.
