He raised money from FEers by telling thdm he would be able to prove the Earth was flat. The ascent of the best rocket took him to about 10,000ft (not bad though nowhere near space) but the descent parachute failed; he died on impact. The joke has been cracked that a FEer proved gravity exists.

The rotational velocity is one revolution per day which sounds far less dramatic thus the 1000mph gets quoted by the FE gurus even though nothing rotates in a straight line and the tangential velocity varies with latitude.

The tangential velocity depends on the distance from the axis and this varies according to latitude; you can't describe the whole Earth has having the same tangential velocity. It does have a constant angular velocity. Centrifugal force at the equator (maximum tangential velocity) is about 0.3% of the gravitational force. Gravitational attraction is proportional to the mass of the object; a basketball does not have the same mass as any planet.

Light passes through them; a totally overcast sky does not produce night, just diminished brightness. Wispy clouds disperse only a small proportion of the sunlight and gives the illusion of the sun being in front. Planes can fly above the highest clouds; no planes have yet flown over the sun.

There is constant motion of molecules within fluids. Aerosols are small “bubbles” with a high ratio of surface area to volume; consequently they are more affected by the air’s motion. That motion can exceed the gravitational pull on their small mass and they remain afloat.

If it had impacted "the dome" at hundreds of miles per hour the impact would have been obvious; the camera taking the video isn't even jarred. Nobody has brought the set sun back. There are people who zoom in on the sun when it is low in the horizon, the brightness of the sun ramps up the automatic anti-glare filter on the camera. the sun appears to shrink in diameter as the surrounding glare is reduced and the gap between sun & ground appears to increase.

Chicago was a mirage, which is not the usual conditions. Different layers of air cause them, not general atmospheric humidity. There’s no reason you wouldn’t be able to focus lenses; you would be looking at a real object. The shoreline came into view as they travelled across the lake, just as you would expect,mirage or not.

Do you understand that orbit refers to the balance of tangential velocity (inertia) and gravity? That more than one factor can apply simultaneously?

The sun appears brighter because of the camera’s settings and because it is above the main body of the atmosphere that diffuses some of the sunlight. Mercury, Venus and Mercury are titchy compared to the size of a star. The bigger something is then the easier it is to see at a distance. Do you know what the markings on a ruler are for?

The sun & moon are on opposite sides of the Earth and refraction makes their apparent position a little higher than their actual position. 8. The video is available on YT last time I looked. I think you are referring to the one where the horizon has been straightened out, an alteration that is obvious due to the curvature that has appeared in the straight lines in the equipment elsewhere in the shot. WHile it goes high in the atompshere it doesn't go anywhere near the sun or moon. Fail. 9. Most of the southern hemisphere intercontinental flights would be beyond the flightrange of the planes on a FE, the map of which you haven't produced. Try producing the flight paths that fit a FE. The emergency diversions in the northern hemisphere are consistent with a globe; you're assuming that a direct flight would appear as a straight line on a projected map. Fail. 10. The further away something is, the smaller the rate of change in viewing angle from its motion. The stars changing place from year to year is detectable with instruments but not apparent to the naked eye (few exceptions). The "wobble" on the Earth's axis means the exact position of celestial poles changes over the centuries. The stars' positions are broadly similar to what they were 2000 years ago (other than the shift in celestial pole) the differences being apparent with time. "You helped create the universe so you know exactly how it all works" Aren't you asking people for explanations on how it works?

The classic experiment is on the Bedford Canal where he intentionally used the refractive effect immediately above the water to see further than would be possible if surface curvature was the only factor. When the experiment is repeated several feet above the water where there is minimal refraction then the curvature is apparent. I've read his book and I just explained the underlying principle. You haven't answered my question; try it. What do you think would make water fall off Earth?

A scientific theory is not a hypothesis, which is how theory is being used in his description. That refraction is not mentioned means it was ignored. With refraction the first 6 miles would indeed appear flat using his methodology; that is why he measured only 6 miles and made no mention of refraction. They don't explain how you get the corresponding 24hr sunlight in Antarctica since the sun moving "outwards" would leave most of Antarctica in the dark at any given time of day.

  656. I watched the beginning of the first. The original Blue Marble was shot on film by the Apollo 17 crew from a distance of c. 18,000 miles as they returned to Earth; it is not a collage. Blue Marble 2 was created from low orbit shots taken from an altitude of about 450 miles. Blue Marble 2012 was a collage from shots taken at about 850 miles. The latest was taken from 930,000 miles. Do you think there is any difference between 450 miles, 850 miles, 18,000 miles and 930,000 miles?

If it was atmospheric distortion then the view would vary with changes in atmospheric conditions and would not be limited to objects sitting on the horizon. All attempts indicate a globe; assuming a flat Earth leads to multiple two trajectory intersections but no common intersection.
