The only piece of information missing for me is how the stop/start system prevents damage to the air conditioner. I am told that if you depower an AC compressor while it is working you have to give it a recovery period before reengaging or it can be damaged. Are automobile units not susceptible to this?

I'm guessing that unnecessary alignments are a revenue stream for many shops. Every time I take my vehicle to the dealer for service the advisor tells me the mechanic noted uneven tire wear and I need an alignment. I have been declining this for years. The vehicle drives straight and true, and I measure the tread depth myself and see no evidence of uneven wear. On my last visit they finally stopped trying to sell me an alignment. There may be slightly more wear on the outer tread of the tires, but I believe this is due to the factory front camber setting, which is not easily adjustable on my vehicle. If I'm not feeling any problems my philosophy to save the alignment money for when I buy new tires if required to get the high mileage warranty.

@HuChing-ob4kk You may be very dumb, but since English may not be your first language I will explain. If the vehicle does not need an alignment, doing one is unnecessary. So there is by definition such a thing. You may not think they are done very often, but my experience differs. I have had alignments done when buying new tires where the before and after measurements were nearly identical. They did not refund the charge just because the alignment had already been within tolerance. Take a stress pill and stop yelling.
