  1. The 1950s bomber interceptors like the Northrop F-89 were design to fire a salvo of Mighty Mouse folding fin aerial rockets at enemy bombers. The idea was similar to that of a scatter gun: fill the piece of sky containing an enemy bomber with a pattern of small rockets and enough of them should hit.
