That, and undersized zippers for the task intended. All of the new grocery bags use #10 sized zippers of this brand.

I really like these zippers. I use them a lot in ultra-duty bags for groceries.

Combines, eh? Sort of like the (fictional) Blomfels Combine?

Yes, Visible 7-11s - unlike the one mentioned in the ZZ Top song…

@ 26:00 - don’t those fans scream like jet engines - as written in fiction?

@cogoid the interconnections operated at such high frequencies that 1) you had treat them as transmission lines. That meant the dielectric constant of the board, as well as the width and the overall shape of those interconnects was/is crucial. Reflections meant distorted signals, which needed to be avoided. 1) impedance not being matched meant a lot of lost power - and that meant more power was needed, and that meant more Heat. If I recall correctly, Smith Charts deal with impedances, and are useful when you need to match the output device of the drivers to the transmission lines, and then match the transmission line to the input devices. ECL (recall reading about these a long time ago) not only do not go into saturation, but also have differential inputs and outputs (better noise immunity) which is more important when your “swing” is 0.7 volts compared to, say, 2.2 (TTL) or ~4.0 volts (Old RCA CMOS).

@ironwolfF1 electrically rugged - and, if using glass envelopes - physically fragile. My first classes - early to mid seventies - had them being used.

“…and they go to three dimensions, where the chips look like cubical sculptures - and the system clocks blocks - and the blocks proceed on the basis of their cumulative propagation delays…”
