  1. Not just that. You go through something like that - combat, extreme abuse (familial and societal), or the like - and it messes up everything. It becomes difficult to relax. You expect people to “try” for you - knives, bullets, cars - all the time. You want to keep moving -stay in one place too long, and one of THEM might show.

  2. That’s chiefly a function of Authoritarianism - all flavors of it, both Right AND Left. It’s when power is highly concentrated.
